Job Summary:

The Senior Vice President of Student Life serves as a key member of the Shaw University Executive Cabinet, providing strategic leadership and oversight to the Student Affairs division. This position is responsible for developing and implementing programs, services, and policies that promote student success, engagement, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Departmental Oversight: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Student Affairs division, ensuring alignment with the university's mission and goals.
  • Program Development: Develop and implement programs, services, and policies that promote student success, engagement, and well-being.
  • Staff Supervision: Supervise and evaluate staff members, providing guidance and support to ensure effective program implementation.
  • Collaboration: Foster partnerships with campus departments, community organizations, and external agencies to enhance student experiences and outcomes.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of the university's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the Student Affairs division's goals and objectives.
  • Budget Management: Oversee the budget for the Student Affairs division, ensuring effective resource allocation and management.
  • Reporting and Evaluation: Provide regular reports to the President and Executive Cabinet on Student Affairs division activities, outcomes, and challenges.
Requirements:
  • Education: Master's degree from an accredited institution required; Doctorate degree in a relevant field preferred.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in higher education administration, with a focus on student affairs.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
