Malace|HR is in search of a skilled Controls Systems Engineer to join a prominent National Healthcare Insurance Provider. This role will be a direct hire position and will involve significant collaboration with the internal IT department, particularly focusing on security systems while enhancing building HVAC automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, install, program, operate, maintain, and administer a multi-million dollar control system that is vital for the effective functioning of a physical plant that supports a sophisticated data processing and office environment, ensuring the security of the business and its visitors.
- Oversee existing systems and assess new technologies; adjust operational sequences to accommodate building occupant requirements and schedules; evaluate systems for compliance with industry standards; analyze programming techniques; monitor energy usage and suggest or implement modifications to minimize energy consumption.
- Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, or system failures, making necessary program adjustments.
- Diagnose and rectify system issues, repair building automation systems and components, and utilize independent judgment and analytical skills to adjust control software to achieve desired results.
- Apply knowledge of physical plant operations, mechanical HVAC systems, electrical generation and distribution, security, and BAS components to review project specifications and documentation, ensuring project objectives are met and providing engineered solutions.
- Develop programming that adheres to the engineered operational sequences, utilizing established standards; create graphical user interfaces as specified in project documents; produce accurate As-Builts based on initial construction drawings and field modifications; assist with commissioning through remote support or site visits.
- Assist with As-Builts and project closeout, providing progress updates to management.
- Coordinate and train building engineers, vendors, and other facilities personnel as required.
- Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, engineering technology, building automation technology, or a related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a building controls automation systems environment.
- At least three (3) years of software application experience within the building or process controls industry, particularly with systems related to complex Data Processing Centers and physical plants generating steam, hot water, chilled water, and emergency power.
- Proficient knowledge of electrical, control, and network wiring.
- Familiarity with HVAC control systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation, security systems, CCTV, and maintenance techniques.
- Experience with systems such as Tridium, Alerton, Honeywell, Johnson, Automated Logic controls, Pelco, Digital Sentry, DC ControlPoint, and TAC is preferred.
