Job Title: Controls Engineer

Fives is seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to join our team in New Hudson, MI. As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, programming, and debugging electrical circuits, pneumatic circuits, programmable controllers, human-machine interfaces, servo controllers, and smart devices to control transport systems, automated assembly systems, test stands, and robotic applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical and fluid-power control systems to meet customer specifications and requirements.
  • Develop, program, and document control system I/O layouts, pneumatic control circuits, PLC and PC-based machine control programs, HMI/MMI control programs, servo controller programs, machine and plant networks, and smart devices and IoT applications.
  • Perform on-site leadership in the start-up and debug of control systems in facilities and customer plants.
  • Review and approve design work of Controls Engineers or subcontract labor to ensure that engineering standards are maintained.
  • Interface with and provide support to all operational departments, including Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, Service, and Support groups.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience designing machine control systems for automotive applications.
  • 10+ years of experience designing electrical schematics with AutoCAD.
  • 10+ years of experience designing fluid power schematics with AutoCAD.
  • 10+ years of experience programming and debugging machine control code, including PLC logic, RLL, STL, PC-based control logic, HMI/MMI configuration and programming, safety controller programming, servo controller programming, robot controller programming, smart device programming, IoT applications, and vision system programming.
Education:
  • A bachelor's degree in a related engineering field or equivalent experience.
