Job Title: Pastoral Associate/Coordinator of Faith Formation

Job Summary:

The Pastoral Associate/Coordinator of Faith Formation is a key role in the Archdiocese of Detroit, responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating the Parish Faith Formation programs. This includes ministry to children and family, adults, Sacramental preparation, and Christian Initiation, funeral ministry, liturgical ministry, and other pastoral needs as they arise.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess needs, set goals, and priorities for Parish Faith Formation programs
  • Develop and maintain curriculum for various age groups
  • Schedule and facilitate grade-level retreats for parents and children
  • Recruit, select, and train Catechists and volunteer staff
  • Plan and implement Sacraments of First Eucharist and Reconciliation
  • Develop annual budgets and attend Parish staff meetings
  • Coordinate Safe Environment and fingerprinting process
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required

Qualifications:

  • Membership and active participation in a Roman Catholic Church
  • Knowledge of principles of organization, administration, budget, and personnel management
  • Ability to communicate effectively and make independent decisions
  • Good computer application skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum Certificate of Theology, pastoral studies, religious education, or related field
  • Two or more years' experience in faith formation programs and/or parish ministry
  • Five or more years teaching experience in faith formation
