Overview

Piston Automotive is seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to join our team. As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems that drive our production processes forward.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and optimize machine performance and requirements using PLC programming.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement projects to improve production efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Develop and track capital investment budgets for assigned projects.
  • Collaborate with automation and capital equipment vendors to select control solutions.
  • Provide guidance on equipment selection, operations, and future expansion.
  • Integrate and network PC's and PLC's using TCP/IP and EthernetIP protocols.
  • Support Controls-related issues to prevent or minimize production downtime.
  • Drive lean concepts and process improvements to enhance overall efficiencies.
  • Collaborate on Controls-related communication, including technical presentations and design reviews.
  • Support Purchasing in evaluating new suppliers, products, and technologies.
  • Benchmark processes and equipment throughout the industry and incorporate into Piston Standards.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Controls Engineer or Maintenance Technician.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Programming.
  • 2-4 years of experience in PLC programming for Manual Assembly Cells, Automated Assembly Cells, and Power & Free conveyor systems.
  • A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in Vision Systems programming.
  • 2-4 years of experience in HMI programming.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in JIT, SPD, ILVS, and Batch manufacturing systems.
  • 2 years of experience with Manual and Automated Assembly Systems and Technologies.
  • A minimum of 2 years of technical experience in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
