About the Mechanic Position at First Student

At First Student, our team of skilled technicians play a vital role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our fleet of vehicles. As a Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on our buses, as well as troubleshooting and diagnosing issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performing maintenance on brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions
  • Completing work orders and ensuring timely completion of tasks
  • Assisting with mobile emergency services and responding to roadside calls
Requirements:
  • 3 years of experience working with automotive, diesel, electric, or CNG vehicles
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to obtain a CDL (training provided)
  • Mechanic's tool set and ability to work independently
  • ASE testing and certification a plus

  • $27 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
  • ASE incentive of $0.25/hour for each relevant ASE obtained
