Lead Banquet Captain

As a key member of our team, you will oversee the execution of exceptional events, ensuring seamless service and flawless execution. Your role includes training staff, assisting with evaluations, and managing banquet equipment. You will also oversee food and beverage presentation, coordinate communications, and address guest concerns. Additionally, you will handle invoicing and payments, and support restaurant management duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide training and guidance to Restaurant staff assigned to banquets.
  • Assist shift managers with performance evaluations of staff, providing input on performance.
  • Execute and follow directions on Banquet Event Orders, ensuring special requests are met.
  • Oversee the set-up and tear-down of banquet rooms and event areas.
  • Oversee the food and beverage service, ensuring items are served and presented appropriately.
  • Coordinate and maintain communications between Food and Beverage staff assigned to the banquet or event.
  • Notify all department contacts of any changes to the event, problems, or issues.
  • Address guests' concerns in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
  • Invoice guests at the conclusion of the banquet, based on all items, guests, and the banquet event order.
  • Accept payments for events, ensuring the check is posted to the master account.
  • Ensure all banquet/event staff signs in and out on the sign-in sheets.
  • Complete Captains' report at the end of the event, including details on event delivery and comments of the host.
  • Inventories, orders, stocks, and stores all banquet equipment.
  • Coordinates and attends mandatory and pre-shift meetings.
  • Performs Assistant Restaurant Shift Manager and Restaurant Shift Manager assignments.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Two or more years serving in events or banquets.
  • Prior Banquet Captain experience preferred.
  • Additional education/experience may substitute for the minimum requirements of the position.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to work all scheduled shifts, including day, swing, graveyard, and holidays.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment illegal drug screen and obtain a Class IIIB license as required by the Puyallup Tribal Gaming Regulatory Office and the Washington State Gaming Commission.
