Behavior Intervention Specialist

The Behavior Intervention Specialist will play a crucial role in our mission to support individuals with unique talents and experiences to reach their full potential and thrive in their communities.
Under the supervision of the Vice President of Behavior Support and Psychology Services, the Behavior Intervention Specialist is responsible for the development, delivery, and evaluation of all behavior support services.
This includes:
- Psychological evaluations and functional assessments
- Behavior support programs and strategies
- Crisis intervention and individual/group counseling
- Case reviews and interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
- Training and consultation with team members
The Behavior Intervention Specialist will work collaboratively with individuals and their support teams to ensure the highest quality of clinical services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and analyzing baseline data on target maladaptive behavior
- Recognizing and defining maladaptive behavior and alternate adaptive behavior
- Developing and implementing behavior support plans
- Providing staff observation and feedback
- Consulting on crisis intervention, behavior modification, and teaching/training programs
Candidates with the required licensure enhancement will provide licensure supervision to other team members.
Education and experience requirements include:
- A Master's degree in a clinical or treatment field
- New York State licensure in Mental Health Counseling or Social Work
- OPWDD-approved specialized training or experience in functional assessment techniques and behavior support plan development
