Physician Assistant

Job Summary:
As a Physician Assistant in our Gastroenterology department at Prisma Health, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our team. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate professional to work under the supervision of a physician, providing quality treatment, referral, and follow-up care in a medical or hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct health histories, physical exams, and provide individual and group health education to patients.
- Order diagnostic laboratory tests and radiological tests, including special testing such as CTs, MRIs, ultrasound, and contrast studies with physician approval.
- Interpret physical findings, lab, and x-ray results, make diagnoses, and formulate and carry out treatment plans, prescribing medication in accordance with state licensing laws.
- Refer cases to immediate supervising physicians when patient conditions are complicated, exceed the Physician Assistant's limit of care or level of training.
- Provide emergency care to prevent the loss of life, limb, or eyesight, and institute emergency procedures in accordance with level of training.
- Support clinic function by participating in policy development, operational improvement, and the implementation of policies and improvements.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a Physician Assistant program approved by an accredited medical body such as CAHEA, American Medical Association, or the Association of Medical Colleges.
- Experience: No previous experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- NCCPA certification and current Physician Assistant licensure in South Carolina.
- BLS certification.
- Knowledge of a wide variety of medical conditions, diseases, and types of injuries; excellent communication skills.
- National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Certificate of Added Qualification in Emergency Medicine - NCCPA CAQ in EM (preferred).
