Position Overview
The Physician at Prisma Health is tasked with delivering exceptional medical services to patients within the Prisma Health-University Medical Group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engages in diagnosing, preventing, and treating diseases, defects, or injuries, and recommends or prescribes treatments aimed at alleviating or curing physical, mental, or functional ailments.
  • Provides medical care to patients in accordance with widely accepted professional standards, ensuring equitable treatment regardless of patients' financial status or demographic factors.
  • Maintains precise, clear, and timely documentation for all medical evaluations and procedures, utilizing Current Procedural Terminology and International Classification of Diseases codes accurately.
  • Shares after-hours call responsibilities with fellow physicians unless otherwise agreed upon.
  • Adheres to accepted medical practices, regulations of managed care organizations, and standards set by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
  • Enhances clinical expertise through ongoing medical education to fulfill the requirements of the Physician's certification and/or state licensing board.
  • Actively participates in non-revenue generating initiatives that promote the Vision and Mission of Prisma Health, which may include committee involvement, community outreach, and contributions to teaching and research objectives.
  • Engages in the response to proposals for managed care contracts.
  • Contributes to the development of quality assurance programs, utilization management initiatives, patient education services, and patient satisfaction efforts.
  • Assists the organization in obtaining and maintaining necessary licenses, permits, and accreditations related to the Physician's Practice or Department.
Management Responsibilities

This position does not involve management duties and will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Essential Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.
  • Completion of Residency; Board Certified or Board Eligible; Medical Staff Privileges.
Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses
  • Medical License for South Carolina.
  • Controlled Substance License for South Carolina.
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Number.
Additional Skills and Experience
  • Basic Computer Proficiency.
  • Familiarity with Office Equipment (fax/copier).
  • Mathematical Competence.
  • Specialty-specific Skills.
