Director of Finance Job Description

Job Summary:

The Director of Finance will oversee and direct the financial activities of the hotel, ensuring the safeguarding of assets and the preparation of financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and HEI Hotels and Resorts standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and direct the financial activities of the hotel, including budget preparation, capital expenditure control, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure the safeguarding of assets and the maintenance of effective cash control systems.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to the General Manager and HEI Corporate management.
  • Coordinate the property's labor management system and maintain appropriate standards for accounts receivable.
  • Approve all major accounts for credit and conduct credit and write-off meetings as requested.
  • Reconcile account balances on a current basis and establish balances in accruals, pre-paid, and other accounts using proper accrual methods and expense realization logic.
  • Manage the department, including maintaining and updating job descriptions and standards, establishing an effective cross-training program, and identifying, screening, and attracting management candidates from outside the company.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Hotel Management.
  • At least 3 years of experience in hotel or hospitality-related finance and accounting.
  • Analytical approach to problems, regard for detail and accuracy.
  • Assertive personality, professional demeanor.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
