Mentoring Program Coordinator

Position Summary:
The Mentoring Program Coordinator plays a crucial role in the establishment, management, and execution of mentorship initiatives at assigned locations. This position focuses on building and maintaining connections between mentors and mentees, ensuring the success of the program, and cultivating a nurturing atmosphere. The coordinator collaborates closely with participants, site personnel, and community stakeholders to improve the quality and effectiveness of the mentoring journey.
Qualifications:
- A High School diploma or GED along with 12 units in Child Development or a related field is required. An Associate's degree in education, child development, or a related field is preferred.
- At least two years of experience working with youth in a similar environment.
- Experience collaborating with staff, volunteers, and school-aged children is preferred.
- A valid California driver's license is necessary for staff with regular driving responsibilities, and the driving record must comply with the agency's insurance requirements.

- Ensure physical, mental, and emotional readiness to fulfill job duties.
- Demonstrate a commitment to achieving program and organizational objectives.
- Possess visual and auditory capabilities to respond to urgent situations and the physical ability to act in emergencies.
- Monitor participant behavior during activities and manage general upkeep.
- Engage professionally with both children and adults.
- Communicate effectively with staff, children, agency representatives, and the broader community.
- Exhibit a warm and approachable demeanor while being sensitive to the needs of a diverse population.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive program information, including details about staff, clients, and partners.
Responsibilities Include:
- Design, oversee, and execute the program, including monthly objectives, activity calendars, and daily schedules, aligned with the mission and policies of Sierra Vista Child & Family Services.
- Ensure compliance with all regulations and policies by mentors and mentees in collaboration with partnering agencies.
- Adhere to established emergency protocols to guarantee the safety of participants and staff.
- Document all incidents and ensure proper communication with relevant parties.
- Maintain accurate and current records, including attendance and emergency information for all enrolled children.
- Provide ongoing guidance to mentors, coordinating their schedules and monitoring attendance.
- Manage daily program operations, including setup, planning, and site maintenance, which encompasses cleaning and securing facilities and equipment.
- Uphold a professional demeanor to reflect the mission and values of Sierra Vista Child & Family Services.
- Assist in the recruitment of mentors.
- Implement infection control measures.
- Foster a culture of quality and safety.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in all mandatory meetings and training sessions.
- Report any suspected abuse or neglect immediately to the appropriate supervisor.
- Alert supervisors to any imminent danger to clients or others.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
