Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Technician is tasked with the upkeep and repair of various facility machinery and systems. This role demands a solid understanding and practical expertise in areas such as HVAC, plumbing, general mechanical maintenance, basic refrigeration, and electrical systems.

All associates at Bedding Acquisition, LLC. DBA Hollander Sleep And Decor are expected to contribute to operational efficiency and uphold a high standard of productivity to meet and surpass customer expectations.

This position emphasizes the importance of teamwork, effective communication, sound judgment, safety consciousness, reliability, and a strong work ethic.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct all maintenance tasks in a safe, organized, and efficient manner.
  • Ensure compliance with evolving OSHA regulations.
  • Be prepared to work overtime and flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with appropriate notice.
  • Assist with general tasks and assignments as necessary.

All associates play a vital role in fulfilling customer needs and are expected to work with minimal supervision following initial training. Associates may also be required to assist in other areas as needed to meet operational demands.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Carry out corrective maintenance to guarantee the proper functioning of facilities and equipment.
  • Perform maintenance activities safely and efficiently.
  • Replace and repair components, rebuild machinery, and align gears, shafts, pulleys, and belts.
  • Utilize parts breakdown manuals and operational guides for equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Manage inventory control for parts and equipment utilized.
  • Respond promptly to all assigned maintenance work orders.
  • Address all urgent maintenance requests on the production floor in a timely manner.
  • Execute preventive maintenance tasks as outlined in the maintenance plan.
  • Document activities using the appropriate preventive maintenance checklists.
  • Maintain certification and safely operate all lift equipment (boom, scissor, forklift).
  • Perform housekeeping duties related to maintenance, including cleaning work areas and equipment.
  • Engage in activities to gain in-depth knowledge of equipment components to diagnose and rectify mechanical or electrical issues.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge continuously.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of technical training and/or relevant job experience.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and following instructions.
  • Basic math skills for counting and calculations.

While performing job duties, the associate will frequently walk, reach with hands and arms, and navigate the work area throughout the shift. The role may involve sitting, squatting, reaching overhead, and using hands for various tasks. The associate may occasionally need to balance, stoop, and bend to lift materials or equipment (typically 50 lbs. or less).

Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Manufacturing/Production Floor: The associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and moderate noise levels, with some areas requiring hearing protection. Mechanics may also work in confined spaces and at elevated heights.

Not all areas are climate-controlled, and exposure to heat or cold may occur. Outdoor work may also involve exposure to extreme temperatures. The associate may encounter dust and particles related to manufacturing and inventory processes.
