About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Scientist to join our Applications Engineering department at Preco, LLC. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in enhancing profitability, efficiency, productivity, and sales volume by leveraging your expertise in laser processes.

Key Responsibilities

As a Materials Scientist, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing leadership in process development demonstrations, complex test studies, and research using Design of Experiments (DOE) concepts.
  • Determining the feasibility of new and/or difficult applications.
  • Regularly analyzing services provided for customers to develop new ways to better satisfy customer needs.
  • Assisting Manufacturing Engineering and Quality in writing technical, quality, and production procedures for the CMS division.
  • Leading the process development and execution of system FAT's for the LED division.
  • Participating in system design reviews.
  • Assisting in selecting and managing key, long-term development projects in targeted markets.
  • Guiding corporate business activities.
  • Writing or assisting in writing test reports, white papers, leading webinars, and giving talks at trade shows.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A four-year metallurgy or engineering degree minimum.
  • 5 to 10 years of industrial experience in heat treating, welding, and/or additive manufacturing.
  • Experience using lasers.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, written communication, and computer skills.
  • Proficient in laser processing equipment and methods, CNC programming, and dimensional tolerancing.
  • Ability to create/analyze blueprints, specifications, and purchase agreements/orders.
  • A willingness to travel.
