Job Title: Mesoscale Simulation Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Mesoscale Simulation Scientist to join our team at Alsym Energy. This role is crucial for leveraging sophisticated simulation techniques to deepen our understanding of battery behavior and drive the development of innovative energy storage solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement advanced finite-element models (FEM) and other mesoscale simulation strategies to analyze the electrochemical, mechanical, and thermal phenomena in battery materials and systems.
  • Employ physics-based models alongside advanced machine learning algorithms to accurately estimate SOC and SOH, ensuring high precision in predictive analytics and enhancing battery management systems.
  • Apply high-throughput computational methods to expedite the discovery and evaluation of new battery materials and configurations.
  • Work collaboratively with experimental teams and effectively communicate complex simulation results to validate models and integrate simulation insights into material design, battery architecture, and optimization strategies.
  • Stay updated with the latest computational techniques and software in the field of material science and battery research, ensuring the application of best practices in modeling and simulation.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • PhD in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related fields, with a strong emphasis on computational modeling, especially finite-element analysis.
  • Demonstrated expertise in finite-element modeling and mesoscale simulation techniques applied to materials science and battery research.
  • Proficient in the use of advanced simulation software (e.g., COMSOL Multiphysics, ANSYS, Abaqus) and programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for modeling and analysis.
  • In-depth understanding of battery technologies, materials, and electrochemical systems.
  • Excellent analytical skills, capable of synthesizing complex data into actionable insights.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience with multi-scale modeling and integrating computational models with machine learning for enhanced predictive accuracy.
  • A solid track record of scientific publications and presentations in the field of computational materials science or battery research.
  • Familiarity with experimental techniques in battery research, enabling effective collaboration with experimental teams.
