Sr. Linux Systems Engineer Opportunity at Aspen Systems Inc.

We're seeking a highly skilled Sr. Linux Systems Engineer to join our talented engineering team in Denver, Colorado. Our exceptional team thrives on staying up-to-date with the latest technology advancements in HPC and enterprise-class systems. We provide top-notch support to our world-class clients across various stages of project development.

About the Role:

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting HPC clusters, AI/ML/GPU computing, parallel file storage systems, and enterprise-class servers from installation to remote managed services. They will also be responsible for providing technical support using industry-standard methodologies. The successful candidate will work with HPC software stacks, including Linux operating systems, MPIs, schedulers, and low-latency interconnects like InfiniBand. Strong knowledge of software compilers, programming, Linux administration, diagnostic procedures, HPC applications, software maintenance, and advanced networking is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and cable network hardware (switches, routers, firewalls)
  • Maintain expertise in shell scripting, specifically bash shell
  • Provide excellent troubleshooting, listening, and problem-solving skills
  • Support various Linux distributions, including Ubuntu, Alma, Rocky, RedHat, SuSE Enterprise Linux, Windows, and *BSD
  • Experience with standard services such as DNS, DHCP, TFTP, PXE, etc.
  • Troubleshoot server and storage software/hardware issues
  • Work with Version Control Systems (GIT, SVN, RCS, CVS)
  • Build applications from source and troubleshoot compiling issues
  • Experience with compilers (GNU, Intel, AOCC)
  • Storage expertise, including installation and tuning (ZFS, XFS, GPFS, Luster, Hadoop, Ceph, Object Storage)
  • Shell scripting experience (Bash, Perl, Python)
  • Virtualization expertise (VMWare, Xen, Hyper-V, KVM, etc.)
  • X86 bootstrap process experience (BIOS, RAID, Fiber Channel, etc.)
  • Batch control systems experience (SLURM, SGE, MOAB, Torque/Maui, PBS Pro)
  • Cluster management tools experience (Warewulf, xCat, Bright, etc.)
  • Container expertise (Apptainer, Singularity, Podman, Docker, etc.)
