Job SummaryThe Patient Care Technician plays a vital role in delivering direct, non-invasive bedside care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position requires integrating company values into daily practice.
Main Responsibilities- Prioritize and deliver basic patient care, including bathing, toileting, feeding, grooming, etc. Perform and document vital signs, measures, and records intake and output, weights, specimen collections, etc. Transfer patients using proper body mechanics and safe patient handling techniques.
- Report any changes observed in condition or behavior of patients to appropriate nursing personnel.
- Assist in preparing unit, patient rooms, and patient beds for receiving patient admissions. Maintain bed and room in a clean, neat, safe, and comfortable manner. Remove supplies and equipment not in use; place furnishings and equipment out of the path to provide a safe, neat, and organized area.
- Adhere to patient rounding expectations and standards.
- Assist in maintaining a physical, social, and psychological environment conducive to providing maximal patient comfort and optimizing healing.
- Promptly and appropriately respond to patient and family calls and requests.
- Appropriately designate applicable charges to individual patients using the hospital's established system.
- May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.
- Provide an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Assess environmental risks for safety and implement appropriate precautions. Comply with approved safety and Infection Prevention standards.
- Maintain regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Two years of experience in an inpatient hospital setting preferred.
