Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer III to join our team at the Texas Juvenile Justice Department. As a Security Officer III, you will be responsible for performing complex security enforcement work, including monitoring and patrolling grounds, checking employees and visitors in and out of the facility, and inspecting and safeguarding buildings, properties, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and patrol grounds to ensure the security and safety of employees, visitors, and facilities.
Check employees and visitors in and out of the facility, verifying their identity and purpose for being on the premises.
Inspect and safeguard buildings, properties, and equipment to prevent unauthorized access or damage.
Maintain facility security and traffic control, including monitoring cameras and recording incidents.
Check for contraband and enforce security rules and regulations.
Collaborate with facility staff to meet established objectives and goals, sharing information and identifying concerns and trends.
Identify, report, confront, and/or apprehend persons/suspects in cases of unauthorized entry into state buildings and work areas, malicious mischief, or other violations.
Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license.
Level II or III security guard license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (preferred).
Military police experience (preferred).
Experience in the use of firearms (preferred).
Working Conditions:
Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
Work in excess of 40 hours per week and be on-call as needed.
Perform physical tasks, including heavy lifting, carrying, and pushing, as well as prolonged standing and walking.
Work in a secure facility with access to sensitive information and equipment.
