Job Title: Crisis Care Specialist
About the Role:Maintaining safety and security is a top priority for our team. As a Crisis Care Specialist, you will be responsible for supervising and monitoring staff, youth, visitors, and facilities to ensure a secure environment.
- Main Responsibilities:
- Promote a supportive and therapeutic environment to enhance emotional/physical development by providing guidance, direction, and role modeling healthy relationships through mentoring.
- Provide leadership to youth through disciplinary actions, setting standards, and supporting educational initiatives.
- Explain agency rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to new residents.
- Coordinate, supervise, and motivate youth during daily activities and encourage participation in required program components.
- Support the educational department in assisting youth with completing assignments.
- Ensure youth access to services that benefit their emotional stability and development.
- Monitor and maintain accurate records of youth behavior and incidents.
- Assist with transporting youth to and from appointments and activities.
- Respond promptly to crisis situations according to policy and procedures.
Requirements:
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent and 2 years of experience working with juveniles in group, community, or education settings or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Pass ergo metrics testing and a thorough background investigation; possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to gain knowledge of behavior management concepts, local, state, and national best practices concerning delinquent behaviors, substance abuse, and mental health issues and transition of youth from institution to community.
- Ability to gain knowledge of non-physical intervention skills in crisis situations.
- Ability to gain knowledge of state, federal, and department youth treatment/safety standards and procedures.
- Ability to gain knowledge of Sheriff's and Juvenile Services Center policies and procedures.
- Ability to gain knowledge of the Wyoming criminal justice and court systems, procedures, and protocols.
- Ability to gain knowledge of hazardous chemicals and materials, fire safety rules, first aid, and CPR.
- Skill in remaining alert at all times and reacting quickly and calmly in emergency situations; dealing with diplomacy, understanding, fairness, firmness, and sound judgment.
- Skill in interpreting laws and regulations, making decisions, maintaining composure, and working effectively under stressful conditions and emergency situations.
- Skill in using constructive discipline while providing clear standards and expectations.
- Skill in modeling good habits, respectful relationships, and handling stress and provocation in a mature manner.
