Job Title: Child Care Worker

Join the Spencer County team as a Child Care Worker and play a vital role in providing high-quality care and education to our students.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Care Worker to join our team. As a Child Care Worker, you will be responsible for providing a safe and nurturing environment for our students, promoting their physical, emotional, and social development, and supporting their educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality care and education to students, including planning and implementing activities that promote their development and well-being.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Contribute to a safe and healthy environment, adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Participate in team planning and implementation of activities designed to enhance students' developmental, educational, and social needs.
  • Collect childcare payments, write receipts, and maintain light record-keeping with a ledger.
  • Supervise activities and follow schedules, ensuring the well-being and safety of students.
  • Encourage positive behavior and self-esteem in students through the use of natural and logical consequences, while maintaining a positive classroom environment.
  • Discipline, respect, and love; treat others the way you want to be treated.
  • Work with the principal or director on discipline referrals, as needed.
  • Follow the direction of the Program Director, Director of Special Education, and School Principal.
  • Use proper CPR and first aid certification skills, as trained, if needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of areas used by the Bear Care Program.
  • Help prepare snacks and administer and document medication, according to state regulations (training required).
  • Be flexible and accept various duties assigned by the Director, as needed.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a child-care setting, preferred.
  • Experience in one of the enrichment activities offered in the program, preferred.
  • Organizational skills and basic computer skills with data entry.
  • Leadership qualities, good oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively under minimum supervision.
  • Infant/child CPR training, Basic First Aid training, and Child abuse and neglect training.
  • Ability to work confidentially with discretion and maintain a pleasant attitude.
Physical Demands:
  • Work is performed while standing, sitting, and/or walking.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching, and the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 50 pounds.

For this type of employment, state law requires a state and federal criminal history background check as a condition of employment. A background check is required of the following: National Sex Offender Public Website, KY Child Abuse Network Registry, and KY Sex Offender Registry.
