Job Summary

Provide children birth to twelve (12) years of age with excellent child care and appropriate guided play-based learning experiences. Work with other team members, and under the direction of the Assistant Director, provide comprehensive care while incorporating curriculum into planned play.
In addition to complying with the child care licensing rules, applicants must be able to write weekly lesson plans, work with children on goals, maintain both child portfolios and progress documentation.
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, ensure children are making progress toward school readiness by performing formal observations, writing developmentally appropriate lesson plans, and scaffolding that learning to ensure milestones are met.
Applicant will be able to manage the routine of the children’s needs and standards of Accreditation. With the support of the Assistant Director, work in the classroom directly supervising the children while following the curriculum, accreditation standards, licensing regulations, writing lesson plans, performing observations, planning, and implementing Parent Teacher Conferences, and paperwork associated with teaching young children.
Must be able to manage a classroom successfully, conduct parent teacher meetings and work closely with the families to support children’s learning. Applicant must be able to communicate with parents daily.
Each teacher is expected to monitor the classroom, attend monthly trainings and classes that correlate with accreditation and licensing standards. Teachers are responsible for paperwork associated with progressing children on individual goals.
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, this lead teacher is responsible for establishing relationships with their teams, which are often new staff members and students. Teacher must mentor other staff by modeling and explaining techniques that are developmentally appropriate and align with the accreditation and state standards. They will need to be the Lead of their classroom and complete assigned paperwork associated with this.
Keeping a clean classroom and serving food is necessary. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Working in the classroom directly supervising the children while following the curriculum, accreditation standards, and licensing regulations, as a direct report to the Assistant Director. This includes parent interactions and team work. Writing lesson plans, doing observations, Parent Teacher Conferences/observations, and paperwork associated with teaching young children. Cleaning and food service duties Cleaning and food service duties Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications CDA, Child Development Coursework, or Associates degree with course work in a related field such as Education. Coursework from the URPD/ Children’s Service Society will be considered.

One (1) month to three (3) years direct paid, full-time work experience required. Part-time work of 20 plus hours weekly for 1 year can count toward 6 months of full time experience. Part-time work will be considered toward the years of experience. For example, working 125 hours monthly for 1 year will be worth 9 months of full-time work (30 months of part time experience at 125 monthly=2 years full time).
Must be at least 18 years old at the time of starting the position.
Must pass a background check from the Bureau of Child Care Licensing.
Must pass a basic physical and a TB Screening.
Must be able to bend, lift and interact with infants and young children at their level. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with large groups of young children including infants and toddlers
ECE coursework at a college level.
Experience as a Lead Teacher.
Experience in an accredited early childhood program.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge:
Qualified applicants will need to understand the importance of early childhood learning, child development, appropriate milestones, health and safety regulations of Bureau of Child Care Licensing, and basic managerial functions.

Be professional and dependable. Comply with directions of Director and work independently. Take initiative and resolve conflicts professionally. Exhibit social maturity, physical endurance, and the emotional stability required to take charge of a group of young children. Be willing and capable of learning new skills. Ability to maintain demeanor during times of high level stress. Lift boxes, children, and moving furniture up to 40 lbs is required. Regular exposure to communicable illnesses, and bodily fluids will occur. Ability to read and write in English. Communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
