Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Family Peer Advocate Specialist to join our team at Greater Mental Health of New York. This role involves working with children and families affected by serious emotional disturbances, providing intensive support and guidance to help them achieve recovery and stability.

The ideal candidate will have personal experience raising or caring for a child with mental health concerns and be familiar with local resources and services. A strong understanding of trauma-informed care and person-centered approaches is essential. The successful applicant will also possess excellent communication skills, empathy, and the ability to work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team.

About the Role:

  1. Engage caregivers in strategies to address identified goals, including problem-solving, mentoring, and community resource exploration.
  2. Document progress and maintain accurate records according to established procedures.
  3. Promote a culture of person-centered, trauma-informed service delivery within the team.

Requirements:

  • A parent or caregiver with personal experience supporting a child with mental health concerns.
  • Eligibility for the Family Peer Advocate Provisional Credential and willingness to pursue the Youth Peer Advocate Professional Credential.
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office and data management.

  • An estimated annual salary of $49,000 - $54,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
