Job OverviewPosition Summary

X-energy is on the lookout for skilled professionals to join our Reactors team as a Senior Systems Integration Engineer. This role is pivotal in crafting and implementing robust, repeatable processes in Industrial and Systems Engineering to facilitate the design, integration, and oversight of intricate systems throughout their lifecycles. The position demands a synthesis of engineering principles, management methodologies, and a comprehensive approach to problem-solving to ensure seamless functionality of all system components while adhering to project specifications. The primary focus of this role is to enhance systems, processes, and our engineering framework by harmonizing personnel, technology, materials, information, and energy. The overarching aim is to elevate the safety, quality, and efficiency of our products and engineering operations at X-energy. Initial project responsibilities will concentrate on System Lifecycle Processes and Model-Based Systems Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

This role is expected to perform the following core tasks and responsibilities with minimal oversight:
  • Assume ownership, responsibility, and accountability for technical scope while coordinating multiple contributors within a specific domain.
  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines and the organization to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of systems, processes, and overall operations.
  • Utilize systems thinking and adopt a holistic approach to problem-solving, analyzing and designing systems while considering the interdependencies and interactions among various components.
  • Streamline processes and systems to boost efficiency, minimize waste, optimize resource utilization (time, finances, materials, and energy), and enhance productivity through methodologies such as Six Sigma and Lean.
  • Facilitate the collection, analysis, and modeling of data to make informed, data-driven decisions regarding system design and process enhancements.
  • Support engineering initiatives throughout the systems engineering lifecycle, leading efforts in Stakeholder and Operational analysis; Requirement identification, decomposition, and management; Functional decomposition and modeling; Logical system architecture development and modeling; Physical product definition, interface management, and change control; Design integration and testing; System verification and validation; Concept of operations development and modeling.
  • Identify and monitor technical risks while developing strategies for risk mitigation.
  • Engage in value engineering activities, including cost analyses, economic feasibility assessments, and identifying opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Draft and review engineering documentation, reports, and communicate technical details and project progress to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement systems engineering processes and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools within X-energy's quality management framework.
  • Create documentation for processes and standard operating procedures; collaborate with the training team to educate employees on new processes and systems to ensure effective implementation.
  • Conduct operations management, production planning, and supply chain optimization to guarantee efficient process flow and resource utilization.
  • Execute project management functions such as planning, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Adhere to X-energy quality assurance procedures to ensure engineering products meet established standards.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and conduct in all forms of communication.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Education and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an ABET accredited institution is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering role is required (A master's degree in engineering or a related field may substitute for two years of experience; a Ph.D. in engineering or a related field may substitute for three years of experience).
  • Experience and/or knowledge in at least one of the following areas: System Lifecycle Processes (ISO 15288); Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Tools and Methods; Product Lifecycle Management Systems; Operations Research; Data Analytics; Production; and Logistics.
