Job Title: Controls Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to join our team at ATC Automation and Robotics. As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing software solutions for various machinery and tooling projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and integrate software solutions for custom automation, machine vision, feedback systems, robotics, and data collection and management.
  • Program and integrate various off-the-shelf components, including cameras, robots, sensors, motors, and other devices.
  • Meet project budgets and schedules, and coordinate progress and roadblocks with Project Managers.
  • Support and assist the production team during debug, commissioning, and installation of equipment.
  • Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams on mechanical and electrical integration, and manage external suppliers.
  • Coordinate with customers to refine requirements and align on project requirements, and support equipment deployment and service at customer sites.
Requirements:
  • 1+ years of experience developing software for PLCs or similar devices, with a college degree acceptable.
  • Knowledge of one or more programming languages, such as VB.NET or C, and basic knowledge of HMI/GUI and PLC development environment software.
  • Knowledge of.NET and COM/ActiveX environments and SDK/APIs implementation, and understanding of various communication protocols, including RS232, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, and CAN bus.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • BS or higher degree in an engineering field, and 1+ years of experience in a controls design role in an industrial automation and/or machine building environment.
  • Knowledge and experience programming and tuning servo motors, stepper motors, and VFD controlled motors, and experience with Vision Systems, including Cognex and Keyence.
  • Experience with field devices, including sensors and actuators, digital and analog I/O signals processing and interfacing techniques, and direct experience troubleshooting automated equipment.
