Job Title: Controls Engineer II

ATC Automation and Robotics is seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer II to join our team. As a key member of our automation team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing software solutions for various machinery and tooling projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and integrate software solutions for custom automation, machine vision, feedback systems, robotics, and data collection and management.
  • Program and integrate various off-the-shelf components, including cameras, robots, sensors, motors, and more.
  • Meet project budgets and schedules while ensuring high-quality results.
  • Collaborate with project managers to coordinate progress and address roadblocks.
  • Support the production team during equipment debug, commissioning, and installation.
  • Work with interdisciplinary teams to ensure mechanical and electrical integration.
  • Manage external suppliers and coordinate with customers to refine requirements and align on project objectives.
  • Develop functional and user interface requirements for HMIs, MES integration, and other systems.
  • Support equipment deployment and service at customer sites, with occasional travel expected.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience developing software for PLCs or similar devices.
  • Knowledge of one or more programming languages, with VB.NET or C preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with single-board microcontrollers or instrumentation platforms, such as Arduino or Raspberry PI.
  • Expert knowledge of HMI/GUI and PLCs development software, including Rockwell and Siemens.
  • Experience with vision systems, field devices, and communication protocols.
  • Ability to program and tune servo motors, stepper motors, and VFD controlled motors.
  • Direct experience troubleshooting automated equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • BS or higher degree in an engineering field.
  • 5+ years in a controls design role, with experience in industrial automation and/or machine building.
  • Ability to specify vision equipment, including lenses, lighting, filters, and sensors.
  • Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics, as well as mechanical drawings.
