Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled LAN Administrator III to join our team at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Office of Information Technology. As a key member of our IT team, you will be responsible for the administration, testing, maintenance, performance, implementation, security, and support of various departmental computing device platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze user needs in the computing device environment and recommend products and services that meet those needs.
  • Ensure that the integrity of the computing environment is maintained in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Deliver, move, and install computing devices and related software, including client devices, Web servers, file and application servers, peripherals, operating systems, standard software, and vendor software.
  • Manage computing device lifecycle by maintaining device and software inventories, performing preventive maintenance, and repairing and replacing equipment as needed.
  • Respond to and resolve alerts on servers, devices, storage utilization, and directory service health and device performance.
  • Create, schedule, monitor, and validate quality of backups to ensure that recovery is possible in the event of equipment or software failure.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and documentation for local departmental equipment.
  • Interface with customers to support Business Continuity plans and participate in organization-wide disaster plans.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve computing device hardware and software problems.
Requirements
  • Two years of college coursework or equivalent experience.
  • Five years of related experience.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical reasoning skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple priorities effectively and prioritize conflicting demands.
  • Ability to execute assigned project tasks within established schedules.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with users and colleagues.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position with a standard Monday to Friday schedule. The position may require working off-hours as needed to support changes to the environment and on-call responsibilities.
