Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our team in Norfolk, VA. As a key member of our waterfront design team, you will be responsible for designing and planning waterfront structures projects, including dry docks, ports, terminals, large and small marinas, vessel mooring and berthing structures, bulkheads, breakwater and shore protection structures.
Responsibilities- Perform as design engineer and/or design manager on waterfront projects
- Analysis, design, inspection of waterfront structures, quality control/assurance, and post construction award services (PCAS)
- Structural analysis and design with timber, steel, concrete, and composite materials
- Prestressed concrete analysis and design
- Develop plans, specifications, and inspection reports as needed
- Perform Quality Assurance reviews of drawings, specifications, calculations, and cost estimates
- Help resolve design problems that may include performing field investigations or inspections, detailed design work, and detailed checking of design computations done by others, or general coordination of specific design aspects into a project
- Calculate construction quantity estimates
- Work closely with other architects, engineers, scientists, project managers, etc. on multi-discipline projects
- Office construction administration including review of shop drawings and technical submittals
- Perform/provide site investigations, construction site inspections, construction support, and prepare inspection reports
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related) and a Master's degree in Structural Engineering
- Professional Engineer licensure in the State of Virginia or the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months of hire
- 4 to 6 years of structural design experience
- Design experience related to marine/waterfront structures, buildings, heavy civil/geotechnical, or large facilities is required
- Ability and willingness to perform occasional site visits which are anticipated to be 1 to 2 times per month
- Possess DBIDS card or eligibility to successfully pass background check to secure Department of Defense DBIDS card and other badges required by clients
- SAP2000 or STAAD
- LPile
- AutoCAD or Revit
