Structural Engineer in Training

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Structural Engineer in Training to join our team at Britt, Peters & Associates. As a key member of our engineering team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of structural engineering projects, from small commercial repairs to large-scale construction projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and detail portions of projects, including structural calculations, design, and detailing for structural building elements.
  • Review and interpret technical documents and designs, ensuring compliance with building codes and product specifications.
  • Correspond directly with clients, design professionals, and contractors to ensure effective communication and project coordination.
  • Plan and coordinate work and schedules with clients, other project stakeholders, and BPA staff to ensure timely project completion.
  • Perform local field visits to document and evaluate existing conditions and ongoing construction.
  • Author technical reports and project correspondence, providing clear and concise documentation of project progress and results.
Requirements:
  • BSCE or MSCE with a focus in structures; MSCE preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit, with a strong understanding of structural engineering principles and practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, design professionals, and contractors.
  • Ability to adapt to different project types and tasks on a daily basis, with a willingness to learn and grow in the role.
  • Able to perform physical field work, including climbing ladders, performing visual observations from afar/rooftops/scaffolding/confined spaces, using precision instruments, etc.
