Job Summary

The Cincinnati VA Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Geriatrics/Palliative Care Physician to serve as the Medical Director of our Community Living Center. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing direct patient care, clinical and operational oversight, and leadership in our nursing home clinical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, including comprehensive management of physical, psychological, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of Veterans.
  • Participate in performance improvement and contribute to improved quality of care through mortality and morbidity reviews, peer reviews, and occurrence screens.
  • Collaborate with the Admissions Coordinator to ensure safe and appropriate CLC admissions, maximize the utilization of CLC beds, and maintain transparency in the admission process.
  • Support and direct the teaching mission at the CLC in coordination with the Medical Facility and any outside teaching organizations.
  • Communicate with staff and leadership, including situational awareness, issue briefs, and weekly huddles with Section Chief.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or be eligible for citizenship.
  • Must have a Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  • Must have a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Must have completed residency training in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm with occasional on-call assignments.
