Job Title: Registered Cardiac Sonographer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Cardiac Sonographer to join our team at Michigan State University (MSU) Health Care Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating Cardiac Ultrasound equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of patients and performing ultrasound examinations at the direction of providers at the Heart & Vascular Center.

Key Responsibilities:

* Operate Cardiac Ultrasound equipment to diagnose and treat patients
* Perform ultrasound examinations at the direction of providers
* Verify patient identity and review patient charts and history forms
* Explain procedures and answer questions to ease patient apprehension
* Perform 2D-M-Mode and Doppler Echocardiograms and Stress Echos
* Complete documentation in the EMR
* Review examinations for technical accuracy and recognize significant Cardiac conditions
* Obtain necessary supplies and maintain examination rooms
* Maintain BCLS Certification and continuing education
* Establish and maintain communications with providers, lab, and other departments

Requirements:

* Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical, vocational or business school in Radiologic Technology or Ultrasonography
* One to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in ultrasound examinations
* Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers

Preferred Qualifications:

* Registered by ARDMS or CCI, RDCS
* Current RVT Certification (Registered Vascular Technologist)

Work Hours:

* 8a-5p M-TH, 8a-noon Friday

Physical Demands:

* The job requires significant physical effort and involves lifting and positioning patients and/or viewing a VDT screen more than 75% of the time.

Health Risks:

* Exposure to human blood, serum, and other body fluids; and materials covered under Universal Precautions; TB risk or work within three (3) feet of patients in a health care setting; wear a respirator.
