Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Cardiac Sonographer to join our team at Michigan State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating Cardiac Ultrasound equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of patients and performing ultrasound examinations at the direction of providers at the Heart & Vascular Center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify patient identity prior to examination and review patient chart and history form
  • Explain the procedure and answer questions to ease patient apprehension
  • Perform 2D-M-Mode and Doppler Echocardiograms and Stress Echos
  • Complete all documentation in the EMR
  • Review each examination for technical accuracy and recognize significant Cardiac conditions requiring immediate intervention
  • Obtain necessary supplies to ensure examination rooms are stocked with necessary materials
  • Continuing education for Registered Cardiac Sonographer
  • Maintain BCLS Certification
  • Establish and maintain communications with providers, lab, and other necessary departments
  • Assist with other duties in clinic as directed by Supervisor
Requirements
  • Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical, vocational or business school in Radiologic Technology or Ultrasonography
  • One to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in ultrasound examinations
  • Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
Preferred Qualifications
  • Registered by ARDMS or CCI, RDCS
  • Current RVT Certification (Registered Vascular Technologist)
