This role may evolve into a Senior HR Consultant based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. The selected individual will be responsible for a diverse range of human resources functions, ensuring exceptional service delivery through effective communication, teamwork, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert in Human Resources, providing insights into best practices.
  • Collaborate with designated departments to comprehend their operational needs and the implications for HR processes. Serve as a knowledgeable resource for faculty and staff regarding HR policies, procedures, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Develop and implement HR processes, procedures, documentation, and databases for the College of Medicine and UC Physicians, Inc. Oversee projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with departmental leadership to assess recruitment and hiring requirements. Manage the recruitment lifecycle, including job creation, postings, candidate sourcing, offer negotiations, reference checks, and onboarding processes.
  • Facilitate initial faculty appointments and manage onboarding and exit procedures for faculty and clinical staff. Oversee visa application processes for international hires, acting as a liaison with the International Office.
  • Provide guidance on benefits information to staff and faculty, addressing basic inquiries. Generate reports related to recruitment, retention, and salary data. Administer payroll processes for staff and faculty.
  • Upon departmental request, offer initial recommendations for compensation adjustments based on thorough analysis of compensation data.
  • Advise employees on leave policies and their rights and responsibilities, ensuring compliance with guidelines through collaboration with UC Leave Administrators and Department Administrators.
  • Consult with departments regarding terminations, including Reductions in Force and For Cause terminations.
  • Uphold confidentiality and integrity, ensuring the accurate and timely management of HR-related documentation in line with UC's Records Retention Schedule.
  • Perform additional duties as required by departmental needs. This job description is subject to change.

Qualifications

HR Consultant

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant work experience or equivalent specialized training may substitute for educational requirements.

Senior HR Consultant

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant work experience or equivalent specialized training may substitute for educational requirements.

Experience Requirements

HR Consultant

Three (3) years of related experience in Human Resources.

Senior HR Consultant

Four (4) years of related experience in Human Resources.

Work Environment

  • Office setting with no unusual physical or environmental demands.
