Job Title: Direct Support Professional

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team at Caregiver, Inc. in Savannah, GA. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to lead their unique lives with dignity, independence, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dining skills, housekeeping skills, social skills, and community access.

• Provide direct support and assistance to individuals in training activities as specified in their Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and activity schedules.

• Assist individuals in mobility as needed, including those using wheelchairs and other assistive devices.

• Maintain a safe and healthy environment, adhering to Universal Precaution Practices and ensuring the wellbeing of the individuals in your care.

• Participate in in-service training sessions and attend meetings as scheduled.

• Serve as a role model and mentor to fellow Direct Support Professionals, promoting a positive and supportive team environment.

• Complete data collection, observation notes, and daily reports as directed by agency policy and procedure.

• Assist individuals in transportation as needed and participate in the daily operation of the home in areas such as grocery shopping, overseeing individuals' money, and monitoring the physical plant and van maintenance.

Requirements:

• High school education or equivalent preferred.

• Previous experience in supporting/assisting individuals with disabilities is preferred.

• Must be 18 years of age or older.

• Valid driver's license and good driving record preferred.

• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

• Satisfactory completion of criminal background checks as required by federal and/or state laws and any other post-offer, pre-employment screenings as mandated by a governing agency or the company.
