Position SummaryThe Director of Dining Services is a dynamic leadership role for an innovative manager who is always looking for ways to improve operations. This pivotal position is accountable for the effective management of Dining Services, ensuring client satisfaction and delivering exceptional customer service through efficient and cost-effective practices that exceed expectations. Responsibilities encompass all aspects of foodservice operations, including retail, cafeteria, catering, quality assurance, sanitation, and client engagement.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise salaried managers and hourly staff within the Food Service Department.
- Oversee the overall management, coordination, and evaluation of the dining account.
- Conduct interviews, hire, and train staff; assign tasks, evaluate performance, and address any issues.
- Prepare and manage the annual budget effectively.
- Utilize company systems for daily, weekly, and monthly reporting, including inventory and payroll.
- Ensure compliance with food preparation and safety standards, including HACCP and OSHA guidelines.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- B.S. Degree in Food Services Technology/Management or a related field; or an A.A. Degree with four years of relevant experience.
- Five to seven years of operational management experience in foodservice, with knowledge of inventory and purchasing.
- Strong understanding of food and catering trends, focusing on quality, production, sanitation, and cost control.
- Experience with P&L accountability or contract-managed services is advantageous.
- Exceptional leadership, management, and coaching abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with management, clients, customers, and staff.
- Strong financial, budgeting, and analytical skills.
- Proficient in various computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
- ServSafe Certification is preferred.
