Family Peer Advocate

The Family and Children's Association is looking for a dedicated Family Peer Advocate to join our Nassau Family Center. This program is focused on assisting families with children aged 5 to 18 who are experiencing Serious Emotional Disturbances.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct home visits to provide education on effective parenting strategies and help families access community resources.
  • Facilitate group sessions and networking opportunities for families.
  • Participate in mandatory training sessions and meetings.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all required documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with Case Managers on shared client cases.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • High school diploma is mandatory.
  • Completion of necessary OMH training within the first year of employment.
  • Experience in parenting a child with special needs is essential.
  • Possession of a valid New York State driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications, including Outlook and Microsoft Word.
Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position, operating Monday through Friday.
