Graduate Nurse Residency Program Overview

Middlesex Hospital is part of a National program formed jointly by the Vizient and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). Our Graduate Nurse Residency Program is designed to support new graduate nurses as they transition into their professional roles as caregivers in the acute care hospital setting.

The program is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as an Accredited Practice Transition Program, with Distinction for Med/Surg Nursing. This accreditation validates hospital residency programs that transition registered nurses into new practice settings.

Program Benefits
  • 1:1 preceptorship for the first 12 weeks

  • Completion of an evidence-based practice project
Eligibility

To be eligible for the program, candidates must:

  • Hold a Bachelors degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program
  • Be eligible to obtain Connecticut Licensure within the first three months of graduation

The application process consists of two steps:

    • Resident Questionnaire noting your area of interest
    • Two professional letters of reference
    • A copy of your most recent official or unofficial transcript
