Job Summary

Dartmouth College seeks a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship to join its Advancement team. This key role will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive stewardship program to foster a culture of donor-focused engagement and relationship building across all intercollegiate sports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a systematic approach to stewardship and engagement activities for donors, with a focus on demonstrating impact and coordination.
  • Work closely with Advancement field staff, coaches, and other colleagues to build and monitor tailored stewardship plans for donors who have created endowment supporting athletic coaches and programs, and capital project naming gifts.
  • Identify and coordinate proactive and strategic stewardship opportunities for DCARD teams, coaches, and staff when traveling for away competition, recruiting, or business travel to connect with local alumni.
  • Oversee the generation and delivery of acknowledgment letters to Friends donors across all sports and administrative units, including drafting additional communication for coaches and administrative staff, and managing donor recognition programs.
  • Manage the creation and distribution of the athletics department's annual stewardship report for endowments and capital gifts, highlighting the impact of donor contributions and maintaining transparency.
  • Partner with the Assistant Director of Donor Communications & Events in the execution of athletics alumni communications and special event programming.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with 4-5 years of experience in development, alumni relations, communications, stewardship, donor relations, and engagement, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Talent to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated ability to work with others.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to apply a high degree of tact and sensitivity to daily activities.
  • Tolerance for ambiguity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three to five years of experience in development for higher education, athletics, or related field, preferably with experience in fundraising, donor relations, or administration.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Experience working with the most senior members, clients, and stakeholders of an organization.
  • Demonstrated successful work experience in a large and/or complex environment where collaboration with multiple stakeholders and flexibility were essential.
  • A creative and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Technical literacy and comfort manipulating and analyzing complex data.
  • An understanding of Dartmouth's advancement systems.
