Job Overview

Position: Senior Infrastructure Architect

ROLE SUMMARY: This role encompasses the following responsibilities:
  • Developing strategic initiatives, planning, and collaborating with Network Services and Infrastructure Solutions on lifecycle management.
  • Building and maintaining strategic partnerships with key infrastructure suppliers, particularly Cisco.
  • Conducting research on industry standards, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Leading collaborative efforts with Network Services to:
    • Establish and update standards.
    • Create reference architectures, engineering templates, and pre-engineered solutions.
    • Design and engineer highly complex infrastructure utilizing Cisco technologies.
  • Working alongside Network Engineers and Infrastructure Consultants to design and engineer new infrastructure solutions where standards are yet to be established.
  • Leading infrastructure design teams focused on Network Services technologies.
  • Contributing to the sharing of best practices, including capacity planning and Cisco network technology design.
  • Engaging with the Cloud Center of Excellence to develop standards and best practices for cloud network connectivity in Azure and Oracle Cloud infrastructure.
  • Collaborating with architects from other Technology Operations organizations (e.g., Application Services, Security, Infrastructure Solutions, Telecom Engineering).
  • Participating in on-call rotations as an Escalation Manager for critical situations.
  • Communicating technology strategy and fostering awareness among Network Services.
The technology domains relevant to this position encompass all technologies managed by Network Services.

Network Services oversees all data network technologies, including network routing protocols, quality of service, MPLS network transport, SD-WAN, Cisco Nexus data center and wide area routing and switching, integration with internet service providers, cloud network services, VPN establishment, voice management, VOIP, voice contact centers, video infrastructure technology, remote wireless routers, wireless LAN, and firewalls.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)

Qualifications
  • Extensive technical expertise and hands-on experience with all technologies managed by Network Services, along with a foundational understanding of technologies managed by other infrastructure service groups.
  • Knowledge of regulations governing technology use, such as NERC CIP, Sarbanes-Oxley, and FCC licensing, as well as internal policies.
  • Capability to define and articulate a comprehensive long-term vision for infrastructure, along with developing short-term plans to realize it.
  • Adept at analyzing information from diverse sources for complex problem-solving.
  • Ability to design and engineer infrastructure solutions that maximize availability while minimizing costs.
  • Competence in creating and evaluating reference technical architectures, ensuring enterprise-wide buy-in, adherence, and implementation.
  • Skill in organizing tasks and coordinating various employees, vendors, and partners to achieve project objectives.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritizing major tasks based on overall impact to the organization.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with all levels of management, vendors, and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in leading committees and teams, training personnel, and delivering presentations.
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an Engineering discipline is strongly preferred.
  • CCIE certification or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in architecting, engineering, and supporting infrastructure technologies. If relevant technical experience substitutes for a degree, the minimum experience requirement increases by four (4) years.
