Senior Cloud Infrastructure Architect

As a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Architect at Cherokee Nation Systems Solutions (CNSS), you will play a pivotal role in delivering IT Cloud Engineering and Solutions Architecture services to design and maintain robust solutions within Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the construction, testing, deployment, and maintenance of IT infrastructure on AWS.
  • Develop solutions utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies, specifically AWS Cloud Formation Templates, to fulfill system specifications.
  • Manage and update source code through NOAA-approved version control systems (GitHub).
  • Deliver comprehensive solution/design blueprints and technical documentation for each assigned initiative.
  • Ensure that documentation adheres to the OAR Change Control process, addressing feedback from the IT Security Officer, System Owner, or Enterprise Architect before production deployment. Document user stories based on product owner requirements and backlog.
  • Design cloud-based applications using AWS native tools, including:
    • Python
    • JupyterHub
    • R / R Studio
    • SQL
    • JavaScript / JavaScript frameworks
    • API Development
    • AWS Lambda
    • AWS API Gateway
    • AWS DynamoDB
    • AWS Glue
    • AWS SageMaker
    • AWS Cognito

    • AWS DataLake
  • Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC), open-source tools, and other approved resources.
  • Actively participate in an agile software development team.
  • May undertake additional software development and analytical tasks to support the development team.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including designers, developers, and project managers, to deliver high-quality solutions on schedule and within budget.
  • Perform other job-related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Eligibility to obtain a Public Trust clearance, Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in information technology, computer science, or a related discipline is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 4 to 6 years of experience in information technology and development, ideally within a federal agency context.
  • Experience in an agile environment is preferred.
  • Proficient in data engineering tools: R, Python, AWS Athena.
  • Implementing Agile best practices in software development, including open-source code, human-centered design, and maintaining a flexible infrastructure with effective communication between the product sponsor and the project team.
  • Designing and configuring server, network, and software solutions for cloud computing infrastructures with a focus on DevOps principles.
  • Experience in monitoring system performance.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of cloud technology, including Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), or Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
  • Ability to design system architecture and interface controls based on requirements.
  • Knowledge of programming techniques and best practices for optimizing performance and security.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the web design and development domain.
  • Must meet pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
