Position Overview

SUMMARY

The Nutritional Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing kitchen operations and ensuring the efficient delivery of meals to patients and designated events as directed by the Food Service Director. This role involves collaborating with the Food Service Director on staff training, procurement, food preparation, and distribution processes. The supervisor is tasked with implementing established protocols for kitchen management and innovating new strategies to assist the Food Service Director in the development, organization, and execution of policies and procedures as needed. The Nutritional Services Supervisor reports directly to the Food Service Director and operates in environments with varying temperatures, from cold storage areas to hot cooking equipment, while handling sharp tools and potentially hazardous cleaning materials.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience: Prior managerial experience in institutional food service is preferred, along with knowledge and skills in preparing diverse culinary offerings.
  • Certifications: A ServeSafe certification is preferred.
  • Required Credentials: Certified Kitchen Manager from an accredited institution or equivalent education; ABM/MAB/CPI Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of food service management, including procurement, storage, preparation, and service.
  • Current Trends: Awareness of contemporary practices in Food Service and Healthcare Delivery Systems.
  • Leadership: Ability to plan and oversee the work of team members.
  • Communication: Proficient in verbal and written English.
  • Physical Capability: Must possess the physical ability and sensory acuity, such as hearing and vision, to effectively perform all patient care functions.
