About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Per Diem Registered Nurse to join our Echocardiography Laboratory team at Massachusetts General Hospital. As a Per Diem RN, you will provide high-quality patient care and assist regular Echo Nurses as needed with patient care prior to and following Trans-Esophageal and Stress Echocardiograms.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage airway emergencies, including acute respiratory failure.
  • Accurately identify arrhythmias and interpret 12-lead ECGs, recognizing when additional resources are needed.
  • Respond to emergency situations, implementing and directing initial cardiac resuscitative efforts.
  • Assist in evaluating and managing acute patient issues in the lab.
  • Maintain open communication with lab staff and nursing units, ensuring a collaborative relationship.
  • Provide accurate patient status reports to relevant staff.
  • Administer agitated saline contrast and/or LVO for echocardiography.
  • Educate patients about echocardiograms and document relevant information.
  • Manage unexpected situations and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
  • Evaluate and improve own nursing practice based on performance evaluations and feedback.
Requirements
  • Current Massachusetts licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Minimum 2 years RN experience with advanced knowledge of cardiac/telemetry.
  • IV knowledge.
