As a key member of the senior leadership team, the Chief Development Officer will be responsible for leading the organization's fundraising efforts, developing and implementing strategic plans to achieve financial goals, and building strong relationships with donors, volunteers, and community leaders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Fundraising Leadership
    • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to achieve annual and long-term financial goals.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
    • Identify and cultivate new funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and planned giving.
  • Team Leadership and Management
    • Lead and manage a team of development professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure successful fundraising outcomes.
    • Develop and implement training programs to enhance staff skills and knowledge in fundraising, donor relations, and stewardship.
  • Donor Engagement and Stewardship
    • Develop and implement strategies to engage and steward donors, ensuring a positive and personalized experience.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, volunteers, and community leaders to foster a culture of philanthropy.
  • Financial Planning and Management
    • Develop and manage the annual budget for the development department, ensuring effective use of resources and achieving financial goals.
    • Monitor and analyze fundraising metrics, providing regular reports to senior leadership and the board of directors.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Collaborate with senior leadership, the board of directors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective communication of fundraising goals and strategies.
    • Develop and implement communication plans to engage stakeholders, donors, and the community in the organization's mission and fundraising efforts.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in business, nonprofit management, public relations, or a related field.
    • Minimum of five years of experience in fundraising, annual giving, capital campaigns, planned giving, major gifts, and grant management.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Proven track record of success in fundraising, with a minimum of $1 million in combined donations.
    • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in staff supervision and development.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
    • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with donors, volunteers, and community leaders.
    • Proficient in using email, internet, and other PC-based applications, with the ability to learn and adapt to new technology.
