About the Role

As a Public Service Officer at Parkland Health and Hospital System, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our patients, visitors, and staff. You will be responsible for monitoring traffic and limiting access to restricted areas, as well as providing assistance to patients and visitors as needed.

Responsibilities
  1. Monitor traffic and limit access to restricted areas, following established policies and procedures.
  2. Monitor high-risk patients in the Emergency room or other assigned areas.
  3. Drive an escort shuttle to and from parking lots and escort patients to ensure safe passage.
  4. Maintain a positive working relationship with patients, visitors, and staff to promote customer satisfaction.
  5. Provide instructions and physical help as needed to support a safe environment.
  6. Patrool assigned areas to discover and report safety and security hazards.
  7. Ensure vehicle and pedestrian traffic moves smoothly within the campus.
  8. Respond to service calls by following established policies and procedures.
  9. Prepare accurate and timely reports consistent with internal practice and as required by law.
  10. Identify ways to improve work processes and customer satisfaction, making recommendations to supervisors.
  11. Stay up-to-date on the latest developments and trends in the security field, integrating knowledge into current work practices.
  12. Maintain knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the department.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • No prior experience is required, but a valid Texas Class C Driver License is necessary.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to deal with the public in a tactful and diplomatic manner.
  • The ability to handle stressful and potentially crisis situations.
