Role Summary: RLC is seeking a Field Service Technician to engage in hands-on tasks and coordinate field access. This role involves the installation and testing of vehicle systems, upgrading equipment, and managing software, hardware, and data telecommunications network installations. Responsibilities also include the installation and termination of low voltage power and signal wiring.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in field service within the mass transit sector; entry to mid-level candidates are welcome.
  • Technical degree or industry certifications are advantageous.

Key Competencies:

  • Technical expertise or engineering experience in the mass transit field.
  • Ability to adhere to schedules and follow instructions while collaborating effectively with team members.
  • Proficient in understanding technical documentation, descriptions, and specifications.
  • Capable of evaluating work quality and implementing improvements.
  • Skilled in using hand power tools, including calibrated tools and multimeters, with a willingness to learn specialized processes.
  • Adept at managing multiple tasks, adapting to changes, and solving problems creatively.
  • Competent in reading, writing, and comprehending documentation and instructions.
  • Experience in disassembling and installing components in various vehicle types, including working at heights.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and comply with all safety regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute onsite project tasks, including installation and equipment disassembly.
  • Conduct testing and integration activities as part of a collaborative team.
  • Participate in site meetings and provide relevant input to the project team.
  • Perform site surveys and supervise electrical subcontractors.
  • Ensure network functionality and complete installation and commissioning duties.
  • Engage in annual safety training and testing.
  • Possess low voltage and network experience with both wired and wireless solutions.
  • Comfortable working with AC and DC high voltages when necessary.

Preferred Experience:

  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, construction drawings, and schematics.
  • Background in Radio Frequency (RF) technology is a plus.
  • Experience with field installations, including testing CCTV, access controls, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Familiarity with Axis Camera and competitive IP camera technologies.
  • Knowledge of Extreme Networks and other wired and wireless network management technologies.
