Oxnard, California, United States HealthCorps Full time

Are you passionate about community service and fostering healthy lifestyles among youth? HealthCorps is dedicated to enhancing the well-being of young individuals, both mentally and physically, and we invite you to be part of this mission.

About Us
HealthCorps is a national non-profit organization focused on tackling health disparities through engaging programs that empower teens in education, leadership, and community service.

We inspire young people to become advocates for change within their families, schools, and neighborhoods. Our initiative is based on the principle that inadequate access to health education can result in long-term social, emotional, and physical challenges.

Your Role
We are seeking an innovative, enthusiastic self-starter to implement the Teens Make Health Happen wellness club in multiple middle or high schools.

The TMHH Club encourages teens to adopt healthier choices for themselves and their families, positioning you as a catalyst for sustainable health improvements and leadership opportunities for students at your designated locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build Strong Connections: Collaborate with teen wellness leaders and site partners to ensure effective program delivery across various school sites.
  • Assess Needs and Progress: Identify health inequities faced by the schools and measure your impact through comprehensive needs assessments and progress tracking.
  • Manage Wellness Clubs: Oversee the implementation of the Teens Make Health Happen program, dedicating 6-8+ hours weekly throughout the semester.
  • Promote Awareness: Organize monthly demonstrations and support regional events, while contributing to social media platforms to highlight program successes.
  • Commit to Our Mission: Ensure that relevant health resources are accessible to all students and staff at your sites, prioritizing health and wellness in your daily activities.

Qualifications
Applicants should be undergraduate or graduate students majoring in public health, public policy, biology, nutrition, marketing, psychology, education, social work, or related fields. Candidates must maintain good academic standing and commit to the mentorship for the entire semester.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to travel to assigned sites and lift up to 15 pounds as needed.

Benefits:

  • College Credit: HealthCorps will assist in providing college credit for your mentorship, subject to your university's guidelines.
  • Professional Development: Ongoing training and mentorship will be provided, along with networking opportunities with community leaders.
  • Stipend: A stipend will be offered based on the number of sites served, intended to offset costs incurred during the program.

Diversity and Inclusion:
HealthCorps values a diverse and inclusive workplace, welcoming individuals from various backgrounds and experiences. We are an equal opportunity employer committed to creating a sense of belonging for all.
