Accounting Assistant/Payroll Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Accounting Assistant/Payroll Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, including tracking assets, liabilities, profit, and loss, as well as tax liabilities and other related financial activities. This role will also involve processing weekly payroll in a timely and accurate manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial statements.
  • Maintain the General Ledger.
  • Review daily cash transactions.
  • Review credit transactions and expenses.
  • Assist in all outside audit activities.
  • Process weekly payroll.
  • Review tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the monthly books.
  • Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to become part of a team.
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Understanding of payroll and employment laws.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and previous HRIS experience.
  • 3-5 years of education or experience in a related role preferred.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.
  • At least 3 years of related experience required.
  • Experience in payroll processing preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to be present in the office regularly during business hours.
