Purchasing Agent Job Description

The Purchasing Agent is a key role within the Ponca Gaming team, responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services for the property.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal departments to procure goods and services that meet the needs and budget of the property.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers and negotiate contracts.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of purchases and contracts.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers to establish and maintain positive relationships.
  • Monitor inventory levels and make recommendations for inventory management.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in procurement.
  • Provide excellent customer service and ensure purchasing needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assist with budget planning and cost-saving initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Minimum two years of experience in a procurement role.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of organizational skills.
  • Computer-literate with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong typing and 10-key skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents and reports.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or questions from others within the company.
  • Ability to effectively present and explain information to others in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in oral, written, or diagram form.
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
Working Conditions:
  • This position is in an office setting and requires the ability to be at a desk for the majority of the workday.
  • Uses hands to manipulate and sort documentation, paperwork, and use office equipment, including keyboard and computer.
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Infrequent lifting required up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Sound levels within the office are normally low. May be required to access the casino daily where the noise level in the work environment may be loud.
