Role Overview

As the Legal Counsel with a focus on Employment law, you will be responsible for managing all employment-related legal matters across the Americas Region, collaborating closely with the AVP, Legal. This engaging position requires a legal professional adept at juggling multiple projects in a dynamic environment, demonstrating sound judgment in balancing legal risks with business objectives. The ideal candidate will embody our commitment to treating all individuals at Richemont with kindness and respect, promoting curiosity and building relationships grounded in trust and empathy.

In addition to providing guidance to HR and management on employment law matters within the Americas Region, you will also have the chance to advise on a wider range of legal issues beyond employment law. The responsibilities of the Legal Counsel – Employment position include, but are not limited to:

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee a broad spectrum of employment law issues, offering counsel on topics such as recruitment, employee relations, compliance, compensation, benefits, workplace safety, privacy, leaves, terminations, and workforce restructuring
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify and mitigate risks associated with employment matters and provide targeted legal advice
  • Partner with HR on employee grievances and investigations
  • Provide legal insights on litigations, complaints, and audits pertaining to employment laws
  • Draft and negotiate employment contracts
  • Assist HR in formulating employment-related policies and procedures
  • Stay informed on developments in employment laws and regulations
  • Manage relationships with external legal advisors
  • Conduct training sessions on employment law

Qualifications

  • JD from a reputable law school with a strong academic record
  • Licensed to practice law, preferably in NY
  • 3-6 years of experience in employment law
  • In-depth knowledge of employment laws across various jurisdictions
  • International experience or a willingness to learn about international employment law
  • Experience in the retail or consumer products sectors is advantageous
  • Ability to merge legal and business perspectives effectively
  • Strong project management capabilities and the ability to work collaboratively
  • Adaptable to a high-growth, fast-paced environment
  • A good sense of humor and a cooperative disposition
  • Willingness to work in the New York City office and travel as necessary
