Crisis Clinician 2 Job Description

Job Summary:

The Marion County Crisis Center is seeking a skilled Crisis Clinician 2 to provide crisis mental health assessments, treatment, and case management services to individuals and families in need. This is an overnight position that requires a strong understanding of community mental health concepts, individual assessment, treatment planning, and treatment protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide counseling by telephone or in-person to individuals and/or their families or concerned others.
  • Intervene with both children and adults, addressing a wide range of personal needs and presenting problems.
  • Perform independent assessments of mental status, diagnosis, level of functioning, dangerousness, and specific needs for service.
  • Develop plans with clients/families to address immediate needs and plans to obtain services.
  • Maintain current knowledge of community agencies to make referrals appropriately.
  • Provide advocacy for client rights, ethical considerations, and least restrictive care-intervention.

Requirements:

  • Possession of a Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Recreational Therapy, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, or a behavioral science field.
  • At least one year of full-time, post-Master's degree experience in the behavioral health field.
  • Knowledge of community mental health concepts, individual assessment, treatment planning, and treatment protocols.
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships with other employees, individuals, and their families, other agencies, and the public.

Working Conditions:

This position requires working in areas that may be exposed to heat, cold, humidity, dust, and chemicals. The employee must be able to operate a motor vehicle, see using depth perception, stand, sit, move about the work area, climb 1 floor of stairs, lift, push, and pull up to 20 lbs., carry up to 10 lbs., move carts weighing up to 20 lbs., operate a keyboard, speak clearly and audibly, read a 12 pt. font, hear a normal level of speech, and work in areas that may be exposed to heat, cold, humidity, dust, and chemicals.

Marion County offers a generous benefits package to regular employees working 50% or more of the regularly scheduled work week and their eligible dependents. Temporary employees and part-time regular employees working less than 50% of the regularly scheduled work week are not eligible for benefits.
