Role Summary

The Residential Youth Support Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive care to residents, ensuring their basic needs are met while fostering a supportive and trauma-informed atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Establish trust and rapport with residents using a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach.
  2. Collaborate with team members and volunteers to create a nurturing environment that promotes stability and safety.
  3. Supervise residents on-site, providing crisis intervention and behavioral guidance as needed.
  4. Maintain awareness of resident activities and complete necessary documentation.
  5. Engage residents in developing independent living skills, including personal care and meal preparation.
  6. Model positive behaviors and communication skills, employing de-escalation techniques when necessary.
  7. Work closely with case management to track and support individualized goals for each resident.
  8. Facilitate home meetings and encourage resident participation.
  9. Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with organizational policies.
  10. Administer medication as required and ensure proper documentation.
  11. Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the living environment, including light housekeeping duties.
  12. Assist in coordinating daily needs and inventory management.
  13. Prepare meals for residents and staff as needed.
  14. Provide transportation for residents to appointments and outings, adhering to safety protocols.
  15. Uphold client confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries.
  16. Promote the mission and vision of the organization within the community.
  17. Participate in training, supervision, and team meetings.

Qualifications Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Experience in caring for vulnerable populations or relevant educational background.
  • Active involvement in a faith community.
  • Reliable transportation and a clean driving record.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn about trauma-informed care and its application.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in social services, particularly with at-risk youth.
  • Knowledge of the issues surrounding domestic minor sex trafficking.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Schedule: Flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate with additional benefits for full-time positions.
